EXILE Technologies (formerly OYO Instruments) is a leading manufacturer of professional-quality thermal imaging equipment, film products, and direct-to-screen devices.
Exile’s thermal imagesetters provide unique, reliable, affordable and chemistry-free imaging solutions to an array of graphic display and oil and gas industries requiring large-format (12 to 54 inch wide) images with resolutions ranging from 200 to 1,200 dpi.
The Liberator XE model is EXILE’s top of the line system, printing at a true 1200 x 1200 dpi resolution. This system is perfect for the printer that requires small font sizes, and wants to eliminate the need for film.
The XE series in the following sizes; 18.25″, 28.5″, 36″, 42″, and 54″. The Liberator systems are roll fed (capstan) devices, so film can be output at nearly unlimited length.
The Liberator imagesetters are driven by a Harlequin RIP that provides exceptional processing speed and reliability. This full featured RIP includes automatic media saving capabilities, precision halftone and stochastic screening, as well as a full raster preview. The RIP can be customized with trapping, proofing and specialized screening to fit your requirements.

EXILE’s new TECHSetter2 gives printers an extremely high quality, extremely fast, wide-format film output solution producing full-size 1200 dpi images up to 14” x 20.5″. The solid construction of this imagesetter delivers both accuracy and consistency from film to film. EXILE Technologies’ thermal imagesetter technology offers clear, compact, environmentally friendly solutions to artwork production, enabling you to eliminate outsourcing of large-format films and bring production-control in-house. EXILE’s unique, chemistry-free, dry-imaging ThermoImpression® film requires absolutely no fixers, developers, inks or toners while providing UV densities that exceed industry standards.
This unique system also accepts thermal plate material for short-run offset printing. This offers the flexibility of producing film for offset metal plates and easily switching to less expensive paper plate material for shorter run jobs.
The TechSetter2 ThermoImpression System includes software that can accept a 1 bit tiff file created from any program or RIP and send directly to the device. An optional Harlequin® RIP is available for processing native files created in any art program and raster them as fully halftoned, CMYK/Spot Color separations. This innovative, trouble-free and fully-featured RIP is PostScript® compatible as well as natively handling PDF, EPS, and TIFF files.
The bottom line: high 1200 dpi quality, incredible speed, extremely accurate results, environmentally friendly, and an affordable price.
