Labelexpo Americas 2014 has come and gone, but the event proved to be the networking capital of the industry when 14,000-plus attendees converged in Chicago last week for the largest label event in the Americas. The show took place at the Donald Stephens Convention Center where attendees browsed hundreds of exhibitor booths learning about new products, and networking with new and established contacts.
Anderson & Vreeland saw record numbers at their booth with steady activity all three days of the exposition, which was heralded as “the best Labelexpo ever.” A&V’s booth was dedicated to print shops of the future, showcasing new products and technology that are changing the flexo industry. The show culminated A&V’s efforts over the past 18 months to develop strategic partnerships with vital technology manufacturers, in concert with A&V’s customers, to introduce world-class solutions at Labelexpo.
Examples included new label presses that make label converter shops’ transition to digital printing easier. Like Konica Minolta’s C71cf label press designed to fill the gap between entry-level and higher-end label presses. This is a full-digital label production system with leading-edge digital print technology designed to satisfy the market needs by on-demand basis. Then there’s Printware’s iJetColor Digital Label Press, a high performance, low total cost of ownership, inkjet digital color press. This digital label printer is a compact, tabletop, 4-color inkjet press that supports production label stocks for product packaging personalization.
Show attendees were impressed by Hybrid Software on display by A&V, that actually manages the convergence of digital printing, workflow and the world wide web. This software provides the ‘missing link’ between MIS systems, web-to-print portals, and prepress workflow to streamline production, reduce costs, and improve printing.
There was also a lot of excitement about the Oris Flex Pack // Web System, a cost-effective turnkey solution for flexible packaging proofing and mock-ups. This solution, designed to interface with Roland VersaCAMM VS series printers, replaces slow and expensive legacy systems for package proofing. Oris XG inks were also introduced, offering expanded gamut over standard inks, giving label and packaging designers the opportunity to prototype their work in full color, just the way it will print.“The response to our exhibit was overwhelming,” said Jessica Harkins Harrell, Technologies Manager at Anderson & Vreeland, Inc. “Label printers were impressed by our new products that make the transition to digital printing easier. They welcomed the idea of ‘partnering’ with A&V to adopt custom flexo solutions that will grow their business in the future,” added Harrell.
