Be prepared to hear information that refutes your most closely held beliefs at Flexo Mythbusters, one of the Flexographic Technical Association’s 2014 Forum education sessions. This session will debunk the many myths and misconceptions about flexography that have sprung up and persisted over the years. Find out what is fact and what is fiction as the truth about flexo wive’s tales is exposed.
Among them will be:
• It’s nearly impossible to steal print jobs back to flexo from gravure.
• A 60 degree hex cell shape is the best anilox engraving.
• You can’t get an accurate ink standard without putting the sample on press.
• Additional myths surrounding high-definition printing, vignettes, spot colors, measurement tools, taboo processes, anilox engraving, UV ink curing, ink temperatures, photopolymer plates, coating and laminations and flexo versus competing print processes.
Plan to attend with an open mind and a willingness to look at things in a different way. Anderson & Vreeland’s Jessica Harkins is a co-chair of this year’s FTA Forum, along with Pepper Stokes of packaging company Robbie Fantastic Flexibles. Look for Jessica and Pepper at the Myth Busters session
Myth Busters and other education sessions take place in the mornings (April 28th and 29th) of the 2014 Forum. Afternoons are reserved for INFO*FLEX 2014, the only event in North America that encompasses the entire package printing and converting marketplace under one roof.
